Grande Spirit Foundation victimized by online scammers

The Grande Spirit Foundation says online scammers have stolen some money from the organization.

The foundation says in a release it happened because of what it calls “a sophisticated phishing scam.”

Thieves posed as a vendor and sent what Grande Spirit calls “convinced emails” that fooled staff and led to money for a vendor going into the wrong account.

The foundation says it is cooperating with cybersecurity experts and police in an investigation.

It adds that this is limited to one account change and no customers are affected.

Cybersecurity has been increased.

The amount stolen was not released.
