Winners announced for “How did the chicken cross the road” safety contest

The City of Grande Prairie announced the winners for its roadside safety initiative; “How did the chicken cross the road?” Student Road Safety Contest.

Three students from three age divisions, Kindergarten to Grade 3, Grade 4 to Grade 7, and Grade 8 to Grade 12 were awarded cash prizes:

Grade 1st Place 2nd Place 3rd Place
K -Gr. 3 Hudson Goldberg Ashley Morgan Eviana Kanon Shah
Gr. 4 – Gr. 7 Fynn Brazier Lumina Stikker Daniel Hu
Gr. 8 – 12 Alexis Beagan Brooke VanderMaaten Joshua Thomas

First-place winners won a $500 cash prize, while second took $300, and third place received $200.

A special presentation for all the winners is being planned by the City, which will take place in the new year.

Mayor Jackie Clayton thanked everyone who participated in the contest; “I am thrilled to see the passion and creativity our students have displayed, the entries not only showcased artistic talent but also a deep understanding of road safety. This awareness among our youth is a crucial step towards ensuring safer roads in our community.”
