UPDATE: Physician coverage found, Fairview ED disruption to end ahead of schedule

UPDATE on Friday, January 5 – Alberta Health Services says that physician coverage has been found for the Emergency Department at the Fairview Health Complex.

Starting at 7 p.m. Friday January 5, the ED will be open and fully operational for area residents needing urgent care.

PREVIOUS – The emergency department at the Fairview Health Complex will be without an on-site physician from 7 a.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Saturday.

Alberta Health Services had said earlier that there would be a disruption from Friday at 7 a.m. until Saturday at 7 a.m. but that has now changed.

Nurses will still be there to do assessments and triage.

People can still call 911 in an emergency as EMS is available and can be rerouted to other hospitals.
