Company fined for violating Water Act

An Alberta company has pleaded guilty to environmental charges after pumping water from a location not authorized under the province’s Water Act.
The numbered company, 1686301 Alberta Ltd., operates a gravel pit between Edson and Hinton.
The government says it pumped water from the pit into a creek leading to the McLeod River in June 2021, leading to erosion of the waterbed and shoreline.
The company was fined $17,500.
