GP RCMP lay multiple charges on individual for attempted murder

The Grande Prairie RCMP has released the list of charges laid against an individual who caused a heavy police presence in a northwest GP neighbourhood on December 20.

However, Mounties say considering the nature of the incident, no names will be released.

As a result of their investigation, a 42-year-old Grande Prairie resident was charged with 16 offences including:

• Two counts of attempted murder
• Kidnapping
• Reckless use of firearm
• Pointing a firearm
• Assault with a weapon
• Two counts of uttering threats
• Possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose
• Careless use of a firearm
• Mischief over $5,000
• Possession of stolen goods under $5,000 (a shotgun)

After being deemed medically sound, the accused was brought before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody, with a court date set for January 11.
