Storm announce ’06 defencemen signing

Jan 5, 2024 | 9:27 AM

The Grande Prairie Storm have added a new addition for their upcoming southern road trip.

The team announced the signing of 17-year-old Cash Ganske from the U18 Leduc Oil Kings, who will be making his debut with the Storm this weekend.

Storm GM Mike Bomersback said in a release they have been keeping an eye on Gankse for the last few years, adding “He has shown us he can play in all situations logging some big minutes at the U18 level for Leduc.”

So far this season in the Alberta Elite Hockey League, Gansek has 3 goals and 11 assists in 24 games, prior to joining the Storm.

Bomersback also discussed calling him up mid-season, saying in the same release; “We are very comfortable in his playing abilities and believe he can come in and help our team not only for the remainder of this season but moving forward in the years to come. He’s an elite skater that should have no problem adjusting to the speed of the AJHL.”

The Storm will be back in action Friday, January 5, in Camrose after dropping their last two games against the Sherwood Park Crusaders last weekend at home.

Face-off time in Camrose will be 7 p.m. The Storm will also be in Blackfalds Saturday for a 6 p.m. start and again Sunday for a 2 p.m. puck drop.
