UPDATE: Fairview Health Complex ED to have doctor starting at 7:00 PM

UPDATE: Monday Jan. 8 2024

AHS has announced the Fairview Health Complex ED will have a physician Monday night starting at 7:00 PM.

Previously the disruption was expected to last 24 hours starting at 7:00 AM this morning, with only nursing staff remaining on site.

Alberta health Service grateful for the support of it’s health care teams and is thanking the community for their patience and understanding.

Alberta Health Services has announced that the Fairview Health Complex ED will be without a physician for 24 hours, starting Monday, January 8 at 7:00 a.m.

However, AHS says the disruption is temporary, and coverage could be found.

If no coverage is found, the ED will be without a physician until 7 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9.

Anyone experiencing an emergency during the closure is still asked to call 911, as EMS will reroute calls to surrounding hospitals.

During the disruption, nursing staff will also remain on-site to perform urgent triage, assessments and referrals to neighbouring facilities.

AHS thanks the public for their patience and understanding, as they work to ensure residents have the coverage they need.
