GPPL names new Library Director

The Grande Prairie Public Library has announced who will be taking over as Library Director.

Hailey McCullough began her new role on January 1, after working as the Head of Adult Services at the GPPL for the last six years.

McCullough has many years of Library experience, graduating from the University of Western Ontario, with a bachelor’s degree in both English Literature and Creative Writing, along with a Master of Library and Information Science degree; Before moving on to work as a librarian at the College of North Atlantic in Labrador City, Newfoundland.

McCullough said in a news release, “Grande Prairie is such an active and community-oriented city, and I look forward to continuing to help shape library services to meet the needs of residents as the Library Director.”‘

In that same release, Library Board Chair Deb Normington said, the “Grande Prairie Public Library is a crucial thread of the social fabric of the City and the surrounding area,” and the rest of the Library Board looks forward to continuing the work they have been doing with McCullough.

In 2022, the GPPL supplied their over 21,500 card holders with 463,630 borrowed items, including resources like mobile hotspots and “Library of Things”.
