Minister issues statement of support for Alberta’s agricultural producers
The Government of Alberta is preparing to help agricultural producers dealing with issues of drought.
Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation RJ Sigurdson issued a statement on January 11, 2024. He noted that the agriculture industry is one of Alberta’s key economic drivers and “is part of the fabric of our culture”.
“Every day, without fail, Alberta’s hard-working farmers, ranchers and agri-food producers deliver food to our tables,” said Sigurdson.
He said over the last three years, producers have been battling conditions of drought and water shortages In various parts of the province, particularly in southern Alberta.
