Nursing Shortage

Central Peace Health Complex emergency department closed until 7 a.m. Wednesday

Jan 16, 2024 | 1:36 PM

Alberta Health Services has temporarily closed the Central Peace Health Complex Emergency Department, until Wednesday, January 17, at 7 a.m.

In a release, AHS says this closure is because of a nursing shortage and said residents are still encouraged to call 911 if they are experiencing a medical emergency, as EMS will reroute calls to neighbouring facilities.

Nursing staff will also remain in acute care at the Central Peace Health Complex during this closure, but no staff will be in the emergency department until 7 a.m. unless AHS can find coverage.

In the same release, AHS thanked residents for their patience and understanding during this time.
