City offering Large Scale Tourism Event Funding

The City of Grande Prairie is inviting event organizers to apply for Large Scale Tourism Event Funding.

In a release, the city says they are offering this funding too attract visitors to Grande Prairie, boost tourism and volunteerism, and celebrate our diverse culture, heritage and love of sports.

According to City Hall, some requirements will need to be met for the applicant events to receive this funding.

These include having a multi-day event drawing a ticketed crowd of at least 2,000 people a day, and drawing crowds from 100 kilometres away, with at least a 35 per cent attendance from people living outside Grande Prairie.

Applicant events should also make a significant contribution to the local economy or support tourism in the area.
