Grande Prairie celebrating Black History Month in February
The Grande Prairie Intercultural Association and the Grande Prairie Public Library will be hosting intercultural celebrations as part of Black History Month throughout February.
Four separate events are planned throughout the month to recognize and honour the legacy of black people in Canada and their communities.
It all culminates with a gala held in early March featuring immigration lawyer and author Cecilia N. Mzvondiwa as the guest speaker.
The City kicks off Black History Month on Saturday, February 3 with Mayor Jackie Clayton delivering a proclamation alongside an Elder’s blessing from the Grande Prairie Friendship Center and an afternoon of all-ages activities.
