Town council in Peace River approves $20k in emergency funding for women’s shelter
Peace River Town Council has approved $20,000 for the Peace River Regional Women’s Shelter.
People from the shelter went to council to ask for emergency funding.
The town says in a news release that the money will help in remediation efforts and in replacing the shelter’s furnaces to prevent any more mould issues.
“Council, and everyone at the Town of Peace River, recognizes the importance of the Women’s Shelter to our community and to the region, especially for those needing its services. The town understands the urgent need to finance the building fix, and we are proud of the fact that we are able to support the Shelter,” says Peace River Mayor Elaine Manzer in that same release.
