City introduces $5 no-show fee for PlayCare

The City of Grande Prairie will be introducing a $5 no-show fee for the Eastlink Centre’s PlayCare caretaker service, starting in February.
Starting February 1, 2024, the $5 fee will be automatically applied to the caretaker’s account of a child who misses the first ten minutes of their PlayCare slot, or does not cancel their slot within a minimum of 30 minutes before the start time.
The City says the six-month to seven-year-old childcare service has become increasingly popular over the past year, and the fee will increase fairness for all residents wanting to use the service.
PlayCare slots can be booked, cancelled, or altered by calling AccessGP at 311.
