Four Valleyview residents rack up 57 charges following drug seizure

On Thursday January 25, members of the Valleyview RCMP helped the Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit execute a search warrant that led to the arrest of four residents in connection with drug trafficking

Sgt. Chris Power said in a released statement, “WAD CRU began the investigation earlier this month and those accused are believed to be responsible for a significant volume of drug trafficking within Valleyview and the neighbouring Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation”

“Our District Crime Reduction Unit continues to support local detachments by providing specialized policing services, targeting drug trafficking and property crime, both of which have significant impacts on the residents of the communities we serve. We encourage anyone with information regarding these crimes to report it to your local detachment or anonymously through Crimestoppers”.

The residence where the search was conducted found multiple prohibited items and suspected drugs.

The items seized were:

  • Over 780 grams of meth
  • Over 180 grams of cocaine
  • $4,800 in Canadian currency
  • A prohibited firearm
  • Two prohibited weapons
  • Multiple edged weapons
  • Ammunition

Four residents from Valleyview were arrested as a result of the investigation: 34-year-old Brandon Lee Munro, 24-year-old Jordana Goodswimmer, 21-year-old Mitchell Trottier, and 20-year-old Gail Isadore.

The four were charged with a combined total of 57 offences, which includes:

  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Several firearms and weapons offences

All four were brought before a Justice of the Peace. Munro was remanded into custody, the other three were released on conditions.

All four are scheduled to appear in Valleyview court on February 15, 2024.
