GP RCMP participating in body-worn camera field-test
Feb 2, 2024 | 12:10 PM
Grande Prairie RCMP officers will be participating in a field test for body-worn cameras.
Starting this month, officers in several Alberta RCMP detachments, including Grande Prairie, will be wearing the cameras in the middle of their chests as part of an ongoing effort to increase trust between police and the communities they serve.
The public will know if the cameras are recording when a red light is visible, allowing evidence to be collected in an independent, unbiased, and objective way.
The field test will continue for eight to ten weeks and represents the final stage in the procurement process before RCMP roll out the program to detachments across the country.
