Funded by the Town of Grimshaw, Village of Berywn, MD of Peace No. 135 and the County of Northern Lights; this scholarship program was designed 15 years ago to increase attraction and retention of healthcare workers in northern Alberta.

To receive the grant funding, applicants must be pursuing a career in healthcare, live in either of the four communities funding the scholarships, and supply a 500 to 700 word essay on their commitment to working in rural northern Alberta.

This year, GRHARC received a total of 13 applications from a wide range of healthcare professions, with the Committee’s Chairperson Stacey Messner saying in the release; “It is heartwarming to see so many people in our region pursuing careers in healthcare and we commend you all for your eagerness to contribute to healthy communities in the north – we wish we could support you all.”

Messner also would like to thank their municipal partners for their “generosity in this important three-year scholarship program and their support in the committee’s overall work.”
