McLennan RCMP lay charges against Peace River resident for sexual offences against a youth

McLennan RCMP have laid charges against a Peace River resident accused of sexual offences against a youth.

The offences, reported by RCMP to have occurred while the youth was attending a school in the High Prairie School Division, were investigated by a joint effort between the McLennan detachment, Alberta’s Integrated Child Exploitation Unit, the Central and Western Alberta General Investigation Sections and WAD Crime Reduction Unit.

Thirty-one–year-old Brock Mackenzie Whalen faces six charges:

  • Sexual assault
  • Sexual interference
  • Luring a child x2
  • Making sexually explicit material available to a child
  • Child exploitation

Whalen has been employed by several school district in Alberta and Saskatchewan, including High Prairie School Division and Holy Family Catholic Regional Division.

Holy Family says in a release that Whalen has been placed on what it calls “offsite unassigned duties.”

He was brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions and will re-appear in court March 18.

McLennan RCMP and WAD GIS are still investigating.
