UPDATE: Physician coverage found, ED disruption at Beaverlodge hospital cancelled

UPDATE: Alberta Health Services now says physician coverage has been found and the outage planned for Wednesday and Thursday has been rescinded.

The Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital Emergency Department will be without an on-site physician overnight.

Starting at 8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, February 14) and lasting until 8 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday, February 15), nursing staff will remain at the ED to perform urgent triage, assessments and referrals to neighbouring communities.

During the disruption, patients are still asked to call 911, as EMS will be re-routing calls to neighbouring facilities.

Depending on needs, AHS also wants to remind residents seeking help at the Beaverlodge ED of services available through local pharmacies.
