Grande Prairie RCMP updating public on Hillside police presence

Grande Prairie RCMP provided an update on the police presence in the Hillside neighbourhood on Monday, February 26, which led to a hold and secure for the Hillside neighbourhood and multiple Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools.

In a release, Mounties say at 12:49 p.m. they responded to a residence, after receiving a firearms-related complaint, with threats being made.

Mounties then secured the scene and negotiated a peaceful arrest of the individual, which led them a search of a home.

Several items were seized, including:

• Shotgun
• Shotgun attachments
• Ammunition
• Airsoft gun

As a result, a 32-year-old Duncan Alexander Loughheed of Grande Prairie is facing six charges, including two each of possession of a firearm while prohibited and possession of a firearm without a license plus one each of careless use of a firearm and uttering threats.

He has been remanded and is due in court Wednesday, February 28.
