The federal government has announced $11.2 million in funding for the Canadian Wheat Research Coalition.
The coalition includes Alberta Grains plus similar groups in Saskatchewan and Manitoba and helps get funding to national and local research projects.
The government says in a news release that this money is for research into genetic improvements and best management practices to increase crop resilience in the face of new pests and diseases threats brought on by climate change.
There will also be work done on greenhouse gas emissions and plant breeding.
