Curling updates, ski hill hours

Brier

Brad Gushue’s Team Canada has advanced to the 1-2 Page playoff game at the Brier after a 9-7 win over Reid Carruthers Friday afternoon.

Gushue’s rink will play Brendan Bottcher after his team beat Saskatchewan by the same 9-7 score.

The 1-2 game is set for 6 p.m. Saturday Alberta time.

The Gushue rink includes Beaverlodge’s Geoff Walker at lead.

There are two games Friday night that will decide who plays in the 3-4 game.

Saskatchewan plays the Northwest Territories. Carruthers faces Matt Dunstone in an all-Manitoba clash.

The 3-4 game is at noon Alberta time Saturday.

The semi-final starts at noon on Sunday, with the final Sunday at 6 p.m.

U20 Curling

Two players from the Peace will be playing against each other at U20 Curling Provincials Friday night.

Adam Elsenheimer’s team is 4-1 safter beating Peter Hlushak of Edmonton 12-4 Friday afternoon.

Team Marin, which includes Sexsmith’s Jackson Hiebert, is 4-1 and tied for first. They beat Hlushak 8-5 Friday morning.

The Friday evening draw starts at 7:30.

More Curling

The Peace Curling Tour Championship is set for Friday through Sunday in Sexsmith.

The Peace River Curling Club is hosting Club Championship qualifiers Saturday and Sunday. Three men’s and two women’s teams are taking part. Draw times are 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Ski Hill hours

Nitehawk ski hill is open Friday night until 8:30, and Saturday and Sunday from 11-5. The Tube Zone is open from 6-8 p.m. Friday, 12-2 and 2:30 to 4:30 Saturday. The Tube Zone will be closed on Sunday.

Whispering Pines is open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The rental shop opens at 9 a.m.

Misery Mountain is open from 5-9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon- 6 p.m. on Sunday.

Powder King is open Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9-3, Saturdays and Sundays from 9-3:30.
