One dead after Highway 43 collision near Sturgeon Lake

Mar 9, 2024 | 12:10 PM

Westbound traffic on Highway 43 has returned to normal following a fatal motor vehicle collision on Friday night near the Williamson Park entrance.

Mounties in Valleyview say at 7:18 p.m., they received a report of a collision on Highway 43 involving a pickup truck and quad.

Upon arrival to the scene, the driver of the quad was deceased. They have been identified as a 26-year-old Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation resident.

Four occupants of the pickup truck were unharmed in the motor vehicle collision.

Valleyview RCMP stayed on scene for several hours investigating the collision and although it’s early in their investigation, they believe the quad was crossing Highway 43 when it made contact with the pickup truck.

Alberta RCMP send their condolences out to the loved ones of the deceased.
