Graduates of Northwestern Polytechnic’s Fairview campus were celebrated on March 9.

Seventy students in the graduating class of 2023-24 were congratulated by school faculty and staff, as well as friends, family, and other supporters during the ceremony.

Fairview’s Valedictorian Alex Zinman of the Animal Health Technology program delivered a speech to their fellow classmates.

“I attribute much of my academic success to the work I did to ensure my mental health was at its best. This included practices like meditation, mindfulness, and physical fitness, all of which I feel played a crucial role in my academic achievements.”

Zinman attended Sheridan College for illustration and spent some time at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto, studying old master-style drawing and painting before studying at NWP.

Alex plans on attending the University of Lethbridge to graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in two years, thanks to new collaborative partnership between the two post-secondary institutions where NWP Animal Health Technology diploma graduates can transfer into a Post-Diploma Bachelor of Arts or Post-Diploma Bachelor of Science (Agricultural Studies) at the U of L.

NWP President Dr. Vanessa Sheane congratulated the graduating class on their achievements saying, “Our Northwestern Polytechnic Fairview Class of 2024 is an extremely dedicated, talented, and skilled group.”

“Along with an impressive results-focus, these graduates possess an aptitude for problem-solving that will be a tremendous asset in our communities and industries.”
