Design Works Centre Zamboni goes electric

The Design Works Centre will now be home to a new electric Zamboni.

The city funded this project through the province’s Electric Vehicles for Municipalities program, administered by the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre. (MCCAC)

Mayor Jackie Clayton thanked the MCCAC for it’s support and went on to say in a release that the purchase of this Zamboni, “highlights the City’s commitment to sustainable operations and innovative solutions.”

She added,this new machine “will contribute to lowering our carbon footprint while maintaining operations and ice quality.”

According to the city, this new Zamboni has three key features; zero emissions, cost efficiency and quiet operations.

The Design Works Centre now joins the Crosslink County Sportsplex, which began using an electric Zamboni in September of 2022.
