Funding for canola research projects announced

The three canola grower associations on the Prairies have announced 13 new projects are getting funding under the Canola Agronomic Research Program.

A release from Alberta Canola says the work will focus on several things, including flea beetle tracking and trapping, clubroot management and monitoring, and learning more about verticillium and how it relates to blackleg.

The release goes on to say these projects “provide new strategies for managing top pests and diseases, improving nutrient management and generating more resilient canola.”

The total cost is $3.7 million Alberta Canola, SaskCanola and Manitoba Canola Growers are putting in a combined $2.1 million with another $1.6 million coming from the Western Grains Research Foundation.
