Penson School uses $8,000 donation on new equipment

Apr 10, 2024 | 12:09 PM

NuVista Energy has made an $8,000 donation to the Penson School, leaving staff “extremely grateful.”

Penson School Principal Nicole Gillies called the donation a wonderful surprise.

“We weren’t expecting NuVista to reach out to us about a donation. They asked us if we needed anything for the school, so we got together as a staff to share some ideas.”

In the end, it was determined students could benefit most from a new high jump mat. Educational Assistant Tara Szmul joked that “the old mat needed to go,” as “she remembers using it as a young Penson student.”

NuVista visited the school yesterday, (Tuesday, April 10) and was given a proud display of what their donation was used for, with Ronda Kokosha of NuVista Energy saying in the release, “We are very proud to be able to donate to our local schools, and it’s so nice to see how it benefits the students.”

Over the 2023/2024 school year, NuVistsa has donated over $20,000 to the Peace Wapiti Public School Division.
