City of Grande Prairie Clean Energy Improvement Program open for 2024

Apr 17, 2024 | 12:12 PM

Applications are now being accepted for the city’s 2024 Clean Energy Improvement Program.

Introduced to the community last year, this program is returning “to support residents in reducing their energy consumption, benefiting from cost savings, improving property values and to help achieve the community’s sustainability goals,” according to Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton.

Through this program, homeowners can apply for a number of energy-efficient and renewable-energy home upgrades, with what the city calls “flexible, affordable, and long-term financing options.”

Eligible home upgrades:

  • Doors, windows, insulation and air sealing.
  • Heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
  • Lighting.
  • Renewable energy, solar PV and thermal.
  • Water heating.
  • Custom upgrades.

For successful applicants, the repayment system will be facilitated through added property tax, which can be transferred to a new owner if the property is ever sold.

This program is administered through a partnership with Alberta Municipalities and made possible thanks to funds provided by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
