County fire crews conducting training over the weekend
Over the weekend, County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service crews will be involved in wildland-urban interface firefighting training.
Training activities will take place in the Pine Valley Subdivision and Camp Tamarack from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 20 and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.
The County wanted to make residents residing in the Pine Valley and Camp Tamarack area aware, that no live fire scenarios will be done but they may hear equipment and tools.
District Fire Chief Bryan Hall emphasized the importance of this training saying in a media release; “Wildfires don’t stop where the forest ends, through the exercise, we will significantly enhance our ability to protect our communities and our residents, particularly when the risk of wildfire is high.”
