Rycoft home invasion suspects to appear in Grande Prairie court May 1

A pair of suspects connected to a home invasion in Rycroft that took place on February 2 have been arrested in Grande Prairie.

Spirit River RCMP say they were made aware of the home invasion shortly after it took place. A male and female armed with what were believed to be handguns forced entry into a residence, demanded money, and took items before leaving.

As a result of the investigation, the following two people were charged:

James (Jamie) William Germo (43), a resident of Rycroft, Alta., was charged with:

  • Robbery with a weapon (x2);
  • Being unlawfully in a dwelling house;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime;
  • Disobeying order of the court; and
  • Using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence.

Rhonda Brent (38), a resident of Keg River, Alta., was charged with:

  • Robbery with a weapon (x2);
  • Being unlawfully in a dwelling house;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime; and
  • Using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence

Germo and Brent were brought before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody. They are to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie May 1.
