Grande Prairie trails undergoing rehabilitation

May 2, 2024 | 7:16 PM

The city’s Trail Rehabilitation Program will get underway in Grande Prairie on Monday, May 6.

During construction, some trails will be closed but the city says they will make sure to have signage up and alternate paths available.

Five key sites in need of rehabilitation were identified by the city; with the first being the west side of 102 Street, from 120 Avenue to 124 Avenue.

In a release, the city says this work is being done to “ensure our beloved trails remain safe and enjoyable for all.”

The project is expected to be completed by the end of the summer, with four other “key sites” scheduled to get rehabilitated:

  • West side of 101 Street from 111 Avenue to 115 Avenue: Scheduled to begin May 17
  • Utility lot trail leading to Maude Clifford School:. Scheduled to begin June 27
  • Cyril Clarke Park in O’Brien Lake: Scheduled to begin July 5
  • Muskoseepi Park trails south of Michaelis Boulevard: Scheduled to begin August 21

Any residents interested in staying up to date with any of the needed trail closures can do so by visiting the City’s Service Announcement Page.
