City of Grande Prairie hosts Youth Week activities

Youth week is underway in Grande Prairie until Tuesday, May 7.

In partnership with the Sunrise House and John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights, the City will be hosting multiple events and activities for youth aged 12 to 24.

All events will be centered around Kickstand Connect; an inclusive space inside the Sunrise House, with the ability to host a wide range of activities from wellness workshops, music, and tech.

Mayor Jackie Clayton said in release “It’s essential that we provide spaces like Kickstand Connect where our youth can safely gather, learn, and grow.”

The City provided a list of some scheduled events taking place this week:

Friday, May 3

  • Summer Job Resume Workshop: 2:00-4:00 p.m.
  • Escape the Room Challenge: 6:00-7:30 p.m.
  • Music Jam Night: 7:30-9:00 p.m.

Saturday, May 4

  • Garden Box Building: 10:30 AM – 3:00 p.m.
  • Mental Health Week Kick-Off!

Monday, May 6

  • 2SLGBTQ Button Making: 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Tuesday, May 7

  • Northreach Q&A Session: 4:15-5:30 p.m.
  • Intro to DnD & Cosplay: 6:30-8:30 p.m.
