Highlights from Monday’s meeting of Grande Prairie City Council

May 7, 2024 | 6:00 AM

Besides the recreational facility discussion, council had a few other things to look at during Monday’s meeting. That included the following:

– Council approved a bylaw to continue having a special levy that Pinnacle residents pay to have the water fountain at the entrance to their neighbourhood. The city has asked for feedback in April. The levy is $12.50 a year and has been in place since 2010.

– Council has voted in favour of moving some signs that show nine different service clubs to the new city limits. They will now be located on northbound Highway 40 near 60 Avenue, southbound Highway 43 at 139 Avenue and eastbound Highway 43 at the lights at the airport turnoff. The old locations were Highway 40 northbound near 68 Avenue, southbound Highway 43 at 132 Avenue at eastbound Highway 43 east of 116 Street.

– Council approved a change to the Fees, Rates and Charges Bylaw to include a $100 fee for having a patio on a street or sidewalk downtown.
