Two residential fires in less than 24 hours

The City’s fire department responded to two residential structure fires in less than 24 hours.

Countryside South Fire

The Grande Prairie Fire Department says the first one was in the Countryside South neighbourhood on Wednesday, May 8.

They responded to the scene with two engines, a ladder truck, and command truck to the fast-moving blaze.

The homeowners were able to escape the flames unscathed, but the house sustained significant damages.

Fire crews were able to stop the fire from spreading to adjacent homes.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Downtown Fire

In the early morning hours of Thursday, May 9, the fire department responded to another residential fire in the downtown area.

The fire was reported around 3:00 a.m., and when crews arrived to the scene, fire and smoke was seen coming from the residence.

Firefighters were able to quickly put the flames out before it spread to other areas of the home.

No injuries were sustained during the blaze and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
