Teepee Creek Wildfire

County officials say the Teepee Creek Wildfire has about 90 per cent of the fire guard completed around the perimeter.

Night vision helicopters flew overnight Sunday, along with wildland firefighter crews to identify hotspots.

The fire had limited growth to the north and west, but remains at an estimated 1,382 hectares.

As of late Sunday evening, there were approximately 80 firefighters and 20 pieces of heavy equipment working to contain the blaze.

Additional support has come from the MD of Greenview, City of Grande Prairie, MD of Smoky River, Big Lakes County, Town of Slave Lake, and Alberta Wildfire plus aircrafts.

No structures have been lost in the fire and fire suppression is being provided to homes nearby.

The evacuation order still remains and no access is allowed within the zone without a permit. A permit can be obtained by contacting the call centre at 1-8225-606-5166, or register as an evacuee between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Valhalla Wildfire

The wildfire that started 13km northwest of the Town of Valhalla is considered being held at 100 hectares.

Alberta Wildfire and crews worked on the fire Sunday and were able to complete a fireguard and secure the perimeter. They are now working towards extinguishing the blaze.

There are 26 firefighters working with pumps and hoses, hand tools, along with a helicopter bucketing hotspots on this fire.

Alberta Wildfire has been given the lead authority on this wildfire.
