Peace Region Energy Show gets underway at Evergreen Park Wednesday and Thursday

May 14, 2024 | 5:00 PM

It’s back! The bi-annual Peace Region Energy Show, formerly the Petroleum Show, will take over at the TARA Centre and surrounding space Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 16.

The show is put on in collaboration with the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce and the Grande Prairie Petroleum Association.

Show Director and Chamber CEO Tanya Oliver says this year’s edition has nearly 300 exhibitors.

“The last show we hosted, was freshly after things were opening up after Covid. That’s in our past now and people are very excited to showcase the products and technology and services available in this important sector.”

Oliver says there are exhibitors from all over the country, and more.

“There’s a really good mix. It’s such a significant industry in the region, we do have a large number of local exhibitors, but we have a lot from western Canada, and from the east as well and some coming up from the States (USA).”

She says for people attending, it isn’t just for those involved with the energy sector.

“The reason to come would be to see the massive equipment that there is. If you’re not in the industry you just don’t see that stuff and it takes so many different types of technology, equipment, and services to make it all work.”

Oliver adds to see it in person is an incredible experience.

The world’s largest pumpjack will also be on display outside the TARA Centre for attendees to view. The pumpjack is over 50 feet tall and weighs more than 160,000 pounds.

GPPA President Trevor Denis says a lot of work goes into planning an event this big.

“I think everyone is excited and happy to be here, there’s a lot of great vendors and excellent things to see.”

Denis says they are hoping for a big turnout.

“Hopefully the weather holds out for the outdoor vendors, if not the inside ones are ready to go.”

“I’m happy we’re able to put this on once again and showcase our energy sector to the community, we are the mecca of the industry in Alberta.”

Hours for the show are below:

  • Wednesday, May 15 – 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, May 16 – 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Admission to the show is free, and organizers suggest registering online beforehand to skip the line in person and get into the show as soon as you arrive.
