Smoky Lake fatal collision

May 28, 2024 | 11:23 AM

Mounties say alcohol or drugs are believed to be a factor in a crash northeast of Edmonton this morning (Tuesday, May 28) that killed two people.

They say a speeding SUV went through a stop sign and hit a car in the County of Smoky Lake.

The driver of the car, a 39-year-old woman from Cold Lake, and her passenger, a 36-year-old man from Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, were killed.

The driver of the S-U-V is in hospital with life-threatening injuries, and two passengers are being treated for various injuries.
