All fire restrictions lifted for County of Grande Prairie

May 30, 2024 | 11:21 AM

As of 11:00 a.m., Thursday May 30, the County of Grande Prairie lifted the fire restriction for the entire county.

The restriction was in place since May 17.

The County credits recent cool temperatures and 11.8 millimetres of rainfall on Wednesday that lowered the Grande Prairie Forest Area’s wildfire danger rating to low.

Moving forward, no fire advisories of any kind are in the county, including the Towns of Beaverlodge, Wembley, and Sexsmith, unless conditions change.

However, fire crews ask residents to check their winter burn piles once again, to make sure everything is fully extinguished.

If you see a wildfire, report it immediately by calling 310-FIRE or 911.
