Grande Prairie couple wins big on Lotto 6/49

A local couple is celebrating winning the May 4 Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw.

Grande Prairie’s Vilma and Leo Colandog won $129,894.60 after splitting the winnings with another ticket purchased in Ontario.

The two have been playing the lottery for over a decade, Leo said in a release; “Always hoping to win!”

Leo scanned the ticket in-store and was in disbelief to see he had won it big, so much so he took a picture and sent it to his wife Vilma.

Leo said Vilma didn’t believe it at first as well, but the couple are now planning on what they will do with the windfall.

“We’re hoping to put it towards a new home because we are renting now,” Vilma said in a release.

She also noted she’d like to use a portion of the money to help with her online travel business.

The Colandogs purchased the winning Lotto 6/49 ticket at Wally’s Mini Mart in Grande Prairie and won the prize by matching five of six numbers drawn.
