Canadian Motorcycle Tourism Association holding Commemoration Weekend June 7-9

The Canadian Motorcycle Tourism Association is holding Commemoration Weekend June 7-9 to honour veterans and bring the community together.

The weekend kicks off Friday June 7, at the Veterans Memorial Gardens & Interpretive Centre with a Senior’s Tea from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. to recognize elder community members, 100 years of the Royal Canadian Air Force, and CMTA’s third anniversary.

Then, on Saturday, June 8, Bezanson School will host a community barbecue and games event starting at 10:30 AM. This is so riders and drivers can support the MP fund for blind children.

On Sunday. there will be a parade heading to the Blueberry Mountain Community Hall starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Sandman Inn.

The parade will include various special guests including the South Korean Consul.

  • June 7, 2024 – Seniors Tea
    • Time: 1 – 4 p.m.
    • Location: Veterans Memorial Gardens & Interpretive Centre
      • We kick off the weekend with a special Seniors Tea to honor our elder community members.
      • A Piper will serve up some entertainment as we honour 100 years of the Air Force + our Third anniversary of being fully open
  • June 8, 2024 – MP Fund for Blind Children Community BBQ and Games
    • Time: 10:30 AM
    • Location: Bezanson School, Bezanson Alberta
    • Activities: Community BBQ, games event, and riders and drivers coming together to support the MP Fund for Blind Children.
      • 4 p.m.: Ceremony at the gardens to honor 45 KIA’s from D-Day and the Battle of Normandy.
      • 5 p.m.: Meet and greet at the Sandman Inn.
      • 6 p.m.: Dine and Dance at D Company Armouries featuring a Second World War photo booth, music by Darlene Woodward, karaoke, silent auction, door prizes, and more.
        • Special guests include the South Korean Consul General Yuan and Consul of Veterans Affairs Kim various government leaders from local municipalities, the province, and the federal government.
  • June 9, 2024 – Parade to Blueberry Mountain
    • 9:30 a.m.: Parade leaves the Sandman Inn.
    • Location: Blueberry Mountain Community Hall
      • Activities: Commemoration Ceremony and BBQ at the Blueberry Mountain Community Hall.
      • Special guests include the South Korean Consul General Yuan and Consul of Veterans Affairs Kim, along with high-ranking members of the Canadian Armed Forces, the Military Police, and various government leaders from local municipalities, the province, and the federal government.
