County launches online survey to review electoral boundaries

Jun 9, 2024 | 7:00 AM

As a requirement of the provincial government, the County of Grande Prairie is doing an electoral boundary review.

This is being done as the Village of Hythe dissolved into the County back in 2021, and the electoral boundaries need to be updated before the next municipal election in 2025 to reflect fair representation in each geographic area.

Currently, the County is divided into nine electoral divisions, with each represented by one councillor. Hythe dissolved into Division 7.

The County is asking residents to participate in an online survey, to get an understanding of taxpayer’s feelings about representation being adequate and equitable as the population changes.
