Reverend Forbes Homestead & Pioneer Hospital opens for the summer

Jun 10, 2024 | 12:26 PM

The City’s Reverend Forbes Homestead and Pioneer Hospital is set to open for the season on Wednesday, June 12.

In the release, Mayor Jackie Clayton called the homestead a “historic gem,” and said the City is “excited to welcome the community back for another summer filled with grander tours, teas and timeless memories.”

Construction of the homestead and hospital was completed in 1912, making it the oldest home and first hospital in Grande Prairie.

Free tours of the historic site will be offered every Wednesday to Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. throughout the summer.

Afternoon tea will also be offered at the homestead starting in July until August; the City will release more information closer to its opening.

Anyone wanting more information about the Reverend Forbes Homestead and Pioneer Hospital can visit the City’s website.
