Tournier wins Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship

The 2024 edition of the Bonnyville Chuckwagon Championship is in the books after the finale on Sunday.

Chuckwagon driver Luke Tournier, along with outriders Ricky Gervais and Quaid Tournier, captured the championship and the George Normand Memorial Buckle.

The win was Tournier’s third time capturing the Bonnyville crown.

Tournier won the championship heat with a penalty-free run time of 1:18.07. Rae Croteau Jr. placed second, Chanse Vigen was third, and Layne MacGillivary was fourth in the final heat of the weekend.

Grande Prairie Stompede Champion Jamie Laboucane has the fastest time of the night at 1:17.32, champion Luke Tournier slipped below just second 75 one-hundredths of a second, and Chance Flad, Dustin Gorst and Chad Fike rounded out the top five on the night.

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association Pro Tour will take one week off before embarking on Medicine Hat for the running of the Medicine Hat Stampede from June 20-23.
