Alberta cyclist raising funds for Alberta Cancer Foundation with 2,000 km ride

An 80-year-old cyclist will be in the Peace region this week as part of a fundraising ride to raise money for cancer treatment as part of the Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer.

Art Brochu is peddling over 2,000 kilometers from Fort McMurray to Medicine Hat in support of the Alberta Cancer Foundation and this week includes stops in Peace River and Grande Prairie.

Brochu will be at the Peace River Community Cancer Centre Wednesday June 12, and the Grande Prairie Cancer Centre Friday June 14.

All funds raised through the campaign will support the foundation. Anyone near his planned route is invited to join him for a 200-kilometer ride in their community.

Brochu’s tour destinations are as follows:

  9. Drayton Valley Community Cancer Centre: June 28
  10. Camrose Community Cancer Centre: July 9
  11. Central Alberta Cancer Centre, Red Deer: July 11
  12. Drumheller Community Cancer Centre: July 13
  13. Bow Valley Community Cancer Centre, Canmore: July 15
  14. Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Calgary: July 17
  15. Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer, Strathmore: July 20-21
