Early bird ticket sales open through June 30 for Grande Prairie Regional Airshow

After a 19-year absence, the Grande Prairie Regional Airshow will return July 27 and 28.

Early Bird tickets are available through June 30 at the show’s website.

The show is being organized by Grande Prairie’s Rotary Clubs and the Grande Prairie Regional Airport.

Organizers say any money raised will go towards the D Coy Community Hub Project.

“The vision of the restoration project is to turn D Coy Armouries into a functional Community Hub that will serve the community and social needs of Grande Prairie residents, particularly youth, community associations, and other not-for-profit groups,” says a release from the airshow.

Director of Social Media and Marketing Devon Potter says in the same release that the show will include “performances from (the) Geronimo Skydiving Team, Insanity Jet Car, Undaunted Airshows, and many more world-class performers.”

“The event will have something for everyone with many non-flying acts including A-10s and F-22 jets, and activities the whole family can enjoy including a freestyle motocross show, bouncy castles, food trucks, and a market.”

Organizers say there will also be a chance to celebrate and learn about the Royal Canadian Air Force as it is making 100 years as its own part of the Canadian Armed Forces this year.

City council approved a $50,000 Large Scale Tourism Grant for the airshow at its meeting on April 8.
