Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning and severe thunderstorm watch for the Peace River-Fairview-High Prairie-Manning forecast area.
The weather office says there could be local amounts of 40 to 50 millimetres, or an inch and six-tenths to two inches, by Saturday night.
Showers are expected to develop Friday afternoon and intensify into a wider area Friday night.
Environment Canada says conditions are also right for severe thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening.
