City of Grande Prairie celebrating Pollinator Week June 17-23

Jun 16, 2024 | 6:00 AM

The City of Grande Prairie is inviting residents to participate in Pollinator Week.

From Monday, June 17 to Sunday June 23, the city will be organizing activities to promote and protect pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Those will include the first GP Grows Orchard Tour at Mike Fedyna Park Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Children are invited to participate in a rock painting contest and submit photos of their work for prizes, while teens and adults are encouraged to take photos of pollinators while out biking and enter those photos as well.

Residents can also participate in Pollinator Week by planting pollinator-friendly gardens, reducing their use of pesticides, and working to spread awareness of these creature’s importance.
