UPDATE: Canada into the semi-finals at U17 boy’s volleyball tournament

UPDATE: Canada will take on Puerto Rico in the semi-finals Friday starting at 6 p.m. at the Norceca U17 Boy’s Pan American Cup volleyball tournament in Mexico.

Canada advanced with a 3-0 win in the quarterfinals Thursday over Nicaragua.

The Team Canada roster includes Grande Prairie’s Kade Funk, who had five points in that game.

Mexico and Cuba meet in the other semi-final Friday night.

The bronze and gold medal games will be played Saturday.

Canada is 2-0 at the Norceca U17 Boy’s Pan American Cup volleyball tournament after a 3-1 win over Guatemala.

Set scores were 21-25, 25-19, 25-15 and 26-24.

Grande Prairie’s Kade Funk had 13 points and two blocks for Canada.

This win came after a wild 3-2 win over Costa Rica on Monday in the tournament opener for both countries.

Set scores were 23-25, 27-25, 21-25, 31-29 and 15-10

Funk had 13 points, 11 attacks and two blocks in that contest.

Canada will play host Mexico in the final pool round game for both Wednesday night starting at 8 p.m. Alberta time. Live updates can be found here.
