Combat sports returns to Grande Prairie with Road to Muay Thai World Cup
The Swan City Fight League is bringing combat sports back to the region when it hosts the Road to Muay Thai World Cup.
Set to run out of the TARA Centre in Evergreen Park on Saturday, June 22, five local talents will enter the ring, including Kevin Bjornson who will fight in the main event.
Other local fighters stepping into the ring to bring “together exciting boxing and muay thai matchups,” will include Peyton Rakestraw, Brysen Howe, Max Golden, and Ashleigh Bartelds.
Any fighters who perform well in this event will then receive a contract to fight in the Muay Thai World Cup. However, the Swan City Fight League says the ultimate goal of the event is to “raise the profile of combat sports in Grande Prairie.”
