Jun 21, 2024 | 6:00 AM

McLennan RCMP say a suspicious vehicle call from the public on June 18 led to the arrests of a pair of individuals.

Mounties who received the report attended a farmer’s field in the MD of Smoky River, where they found a vehicle they determined to be stolen, with two occupants inside.

Arrests were then made and a search of the vehicle ensued, leading RCMP to seize multiple illegal drugs and other items including:

  • 1.2 kilograms of methamphetamine
  • 58 grams of cocaine
  • 120 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • Various weapons
  • Ammunition
  • Suspected stolen property

As a result, 36-year-old Muhktar Ali of Nampa and 27-year-old Hayes Fuller-Garand of Warburg had nine charges laid against them:

  • Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Fraudulent concealment
  • Two counts of failing to comply with a release order
  • Illegal possession of government documents

The duo was then remanded into custody with Ali in McLennan court on June 24 and Fuller-Garand on July 4.
